The old Bei Jing City used to be surrounded by tall walls as a protection for the city. The Front Gate was one of the nine gates that led into Bei Jing. Unfortunately, out of ignorance, the wall was destroyed in 1958. What used to stand for hundreds of years was destroyed in a matter of a year.
