Forbidden City - Ti Ren Pavilion

Another view of the Ti Ren Pavilion.

You may notice a theme in the Forbidden City, that the roofs of the palace are always yellow and the walls red. These colors are also symbolic. Red represents happiness, good fortune and wealth. Yellow is the color of the earth on the Loess Plateau, the original home of the Chinese people. Yellow became an imperial color during the Tang (618-907 A.D.) dynasty, when only the royal family was allowed to wear it and use it in their architecture.
